ALUG Announce
Please send announcements to Announce@lists.alug.org.uk Unsub, change settings via http://lists.alug.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/announce ----- Hello Norwich Aluggers,
Our monthly ALUG Norwich social meeting will be held this Thursday, 14th November at The Coach and Horses (82 Thorpe Road, Norwich, NR1 1BA).
The meeting officially starts at 8pm, although some people may arrive earlier. More information on those people can be found on the list and the IRC channel. If you are unsure if you will recognise us then make yourself and your intent to attend known by either posting on list or visiting us on IRC so we can look out for you rather than hiding in the corner. Optionally you could ask at the bar if they know where the geeky computer weirdos are and they'll point you in the right direction (seriously!). Another possibility is look for heaps of electronics on a table that may possibly look like movie props that would used for detonating explosives.
Feel free to bring electronics/laptops/gadgets to the meet, you will by no means be alone.

It is long past time for me to attend one of these meetings so I'll try to get there on thursday. Since I got so little response (only Ewan Slater stuck his head up) to my query about a cryptoparty I thought I'd bring along a laptop and tails USB with the intention of stimulating discussion of Tor and other privacy enhancing tools. Everyone knows why they are necessary......
So - look out for a bearded bloke with glasses, pushing 60, holding a laptop or netbook and probably arriving between 8 and 8.30.
Cheers

I recognise that "bearded bloke with glasses" at a LUG meeting may not be entirely a unique identifier.
I'll try to remember the sandals as well.

Should I bring a badge to avoid confusion then?

Is this some new one-upmanship format? Should I trim mine a bit more - even more?
Dam^h^h^oh dear!
On Thursday I remembered to get my new specs in Wymondham but forgot to take the flatpot, extension lead, etc to Naaardge, and not only that, forgot there *was* a meeting at the Coach and Horses...
It's not that I was terribly excited about the glasses: after all, they had only been reglazed.
I think I must see about having a USB slot fitted in me 'ed so I can plug some working memory in.

It was good to meet people on thursday and put some faces to names at last. I did not get to talk to everyone there and my apologies to those I may have (seemed to have) ignored - Richard talks a lot....
My congratulations to Nev for actually wearing sandals.
Cheers
