Hi all,
I forgot again as usual about the weekly irc meet, would it not be useful to others (not only me) if someone setup a job that emails the list every monday around 4-5pm'ish as a reminder that the meet is taking place, where it is etc?
I could do it from a box at work but maybe the list admin (Savs or Mark?) would have a better way of doing it?
Adam
I think this would be an extremely good idea, I also forgot yet again.
Anybody got a log?
Cheers, BJ

Has anyone got a log from all the past 8'ish meets? If someone gives me a login on a box so I can post them to the web I will do it. I nearly remembered when I was in California but as I was fixing the broken DNS It kind of slipped my mind as at local time the meet was 10am.

Trust me when I say you didn't miss anything ;-)

Well I can quite believe that, but (big but) irc could help us loads if we use it correctly. I have been a crap alug memeber in the past few months and need reminders and poking to keep in touch :-) Does anyone else feel that this maybe part of the apathy that is (allegedly) a common feature of east-anglia?

Nah, it's not as simple as that!
Cheers, Laurie.

I am just about to take early retirement an have bought a brick and flint cottage near Cromer. One of the attractions of East Anglia as a retirement area is that its pace of life is so much more relaxed. That's not apathy, just a recognition the humans beings are not designed to be overclocked.

Speaking as a massively overclocked 486 I have to say I like the sound of that. I'm afraid I'm living in the wrong part of the country though :-( When it comes to East Anglia I have to confess to being just a tourist =:o I may have to use that in my work email footer though!
By the way, 'Hello'. I've been lurking here for a while and hail from Hampshire.

Welcome Paul,
Are you are lurker on several Linux mail groups or does ALUG have some particular fascination? Is there a LUG down your way?

Thanks, I'm actually on the HantsLUG list for my local area, and have been for some time. A little while ago I decided to see what was going on around the country so subscribed to a few other lists from the lurg.org.uk site. I do rather like East Anglia though, I've holidayed there on and off for years - mainly on the Broads being into sailing.
I've added a few more recently, and probably ought to add the rest (if my modem can take the pressure) - for my sins I managed to 'volunteer' last weekend to be the LUG/Community liaison for the Smoothwall project - Mark/MJR go easy on me I've read the LinuxUK site ;-)
By the way if anyone wants to contact me regarding Smoothwall please use community@smoothwall.org as I have just set it up for that purpose. I ought to confess to not having much hands on experience yet though :-( I look after the server that hosts the domain, but unfortunately my old 486 box is not Y2K compliant, and is also buried due to a loft conversion, so although it is installed, I haven't played with it yet :-( I need to get the web site updated with this contact yet though.
