I've just upgraded my Fujitsu Lifebook P1120 from 802.11b to 802.11g
I've removed the original prism2 based card (that also had an integrated modem) and inserted an Intel 2915abg. This card is I believe just an OEM version of the 2200.
ubuntu had no issues whatsoever with the new card, but since installing it my wireless lan has moved from eth1 to eth0 and the Ethernet port that was on eth0 has vanished.
Any ideas on how I get the Ethernet port back on eth0 and the wireless back on eth1
Cheers Wayne

No, it is a different version of the 2200 that also can do 802.11a, but uses the same drivers :)

I'm guessing that the new card has nobbled part of the pci bus that the old card wasn't using. Try sticking the old card in and noting pci ids, and the same with the new card. You may also need to look at adding options to the boot, try googling for things like "noapic" "pci=noacpi" and "acpi=off", I have seen problems like you are having when fiddling around with hardware like this, most annoying.

God I am glad it didn't come to that, you have no idea how pleased I am that power management works 100% on the Fujitsu with Ubuntu.
Suspend, Hibernate, CPU Throttle, Lid shut actions, Wireless switch (that took some hacking) Thermal management (what there is of it on a Crusoe machine) the lot. When you only have a 1900mAH battery these things are important.
Mind you even with a slightly tired 1900mAH I get 3 hours if I am careful with disk access. Somebody is selling a 4400mAH slot in upgrade on Ebay which would mean I could almost push a full working day...not too shabby for an just over A5 size notebook.
Oh that was a Doh! moment.
I had forgotten that last time I powered down the Fujitsu I had suspended to disk not completely shutdown.
A proper reboot cured it and I now have both interfaces.
Amazing though that after a suspend from disk the new card actually worked !
BTW (shameless plug) If anybody wants to do a similar upgrade or has an empty miniPCI slot (and the antenna) in their laptop then I can get these cards (and the 2200) at very reasonable money. Lots of laptops have the slot and the antenna, pretty much anything made in the last 2-3 years. The only machines which I know to be a problem are Thinkpads, which really need an IBM card (the Bios tries to disable anything else)

No they don't you can do this http://www.paul.sladen.org/thinkpad-r31/wifi-card-pci-ids.html to your shiny new thinkpad to make them work :)
