Updated Betterbird today (153.3) and now it refuses to open. Tried uninstalling then reinstalling and then restarting my laptop. Nothing. Then I thought well Thunderbird's bound to work isn't it? No, as it turns out. How do I figure out what's going on? Bev. (Mint.)

Try running thunderbird (or betterbird) from the command prompt, you'll probably then see the error which is causing the problem reported in the terminal window. I'm pretty sure you can just type 'thunderbird' at the command prompt to run it. -- Chris Green
Of course now it's fine isn't it? But apropos, if I type Betterbird into terminal it says 'command not found'. (Presumably because it doesn't recognise Flatpak programs?) Bev On Sep 18 2026, at 6:40 am, Chris Green <cl@isbd.net> wrote:

So, further. I have the command figured out now and this time (this is following a kernal update today - so they must be linked?) it says it's not installed. It is, of course. Bev On Sep 18 2026, at 1:25 pm, Bev Nicolson <wildthistle@gmx.co.uk> wrote:

Which says 'file not found', betterbird or thunderbird? You need to find what the executable file is actually called to run them from the command line. I had to look up how to run a flatpak from the command line, for betterbird it's **probably**:- flatpak run org.betterbird But there may be some more required in there. -- Chris Green
