Peter,
ALUG Christmas meals seem to traditionally happen early in the year after the Christmas in question - mainly because it's difficult to book somewhere and organise everyone around the Christmas period.
Last Christmas' celebration, for example, was a meal earlier this year at the Reindeer.
Thanks,
David
David,
I'm all for doing something in the new year, if that's easier for people's diaries. You've missed the big point tho ... we're now at two ends of the region. :)
Understandable that it's been traditional of late to hold it at the Reindeer, but now we have two groups do we want:
a) two separate events (open to all)
or
b) one combined event (either located in Ipswich or Norwich* with the expectation of travel, or located somewhere between the two)

Nope, support is great - sounds like at least one other person down here would be willing to travel north, which is a good thing to know!
If noone else from our end speaks up, I've no problem with us just going up to the belated Xmas meal in Norwich in the New Year ...
Peter.
* Assuming that the Ipswich meets continue strongly through the next year too, we could alternate years i.e. one year, Ipswich, one year Norwich.

I didn't meant to imply that it is always held at the Reindeer, that was only last year. For example the Christmas meal previous to that one was at the Buckinghamshire Arms[0]
Thanks,

hmmm ... pictures look nice.
Shame the collection of broken links prevents the menu from being read!
Personally, I'm happy wherever and it sounds like the other interested parties down here are willing to travel to so that sounds good. Besides, it may be further away but that looks like good geocaching territory ... !
Peter.
I have no worries about going to the Reindeer for a Christmas gathering, it would be nice to meet the Norwich crowd. Only problem for me at the moment would be transport.....
Thanks

Well, I'd be quite happy to drive, which would make room for up to 4 passengers - it would make a change not being the designated drunk. :)
Peter.
I've spoken to another interested party who's also willing to travel to Norwich. There was a suggestion that train-ing it might be a good alternative option too, if the venue is in the centre.
I guess then, unless there's an overwhelming uproar from the silent Suffolk minorities, those of us who are interested can head up to Norwich and join in with whatever your planning, in the new year!
I love it when a plan comes together.
Peter.
Well I would love to say I'd come along and provide transport for a few people but I know I wont be able to spare the time unfortunately. We've just started a major project at work to move data centres which is going to take about the next 4 months solid to complete.
Have a good time though!!
Rgds
