Right - that's it, I shall hunt you down and stabby you to death![0] In fairness to the release team, this is a particular difficult one to track, and, at least it'll be fixed by this time Thursday, all the CD images are being rebuilt now.

Of course, if you can do a better job, maybe you should step up and volunteer *grin*.

Idunno.... I have a certain reputation for producing some custom linux distros, and the current crop are based on Debian.. Maybe _we_ could do a better job..

Indeed you do, and yours are "somewhat" speciallised... I'm sure you don't quite have the same package count as an official debian release, do you, Paul ;) Of course, if yours go wrong, that's a hell of a lot of machinery broken *grin*. So, my Debian 'testing' box (which has entries like: deb http://mirror.ox.ac.uk/debian/ testing main contrib non-free in /etc/apt/sources.lst) is no longer Sarge? Is that right? Is it now 'etch'? (and why not 'sid'?) And if I do apt-get update and apt-get upgrade tomorrow (or next week) will I start seeing updated packages coming through?

Correct, it's now Etch, things will start flowing again in the next couple of weeks I expect, once all the locks are removed etc.

Sid is *always* debian unstable, it was defined early on, Sid is evil, see, and thus you make not a release called that - if you ever see a CD labeled Debian Sid, it's not official, it will be a snapshot of unstable at best, and something completely broken at worst.
