Martyn,
http://www.SunFreeware.com/ has lots of Solaris Package files of various GNU utilities that are standard on most Linux distros but are lacking on Solaris. Also have a look at http://www.SolarisCentral.org/ as it has pointers to all things Solaris.

Subject: [alug] Off-topic: Good Solaris guide?
Off-topic, I know, but does anybody know of a decent web site with a guide to Sun Solaris 5.7? There are certain elements that I just can't seem to find under Solaris which are readily available under Linux and want to know if they have Solaris equivelents..
Thanks,
Martyn
