I might be able to make this, as long as it's not the first w/e in July. I've gone a long way down the gentoo road, and have a server here with an rsync copy of the live site, so an off-line gentoo install is on the cards, I think. Given the fact that it compiles *everything* from scratch, a good 4 hours is needed on an Athlon 1800 (or over) given chatting and explaining. Anything slower isn't going to finish in time!
