Does anyone have experience in dual booting between Windows XP and Linux? I understand it is not possible to resize a NTFS partition (so I'll have to use partition magic to do it), but what about configuring Lilo?
If it's anything like NT4/5, you'll probably need to install LILO on hda6, or wherever your root partition is. Darned NTLoader!
I use xosl ( www.xosl.org ) to get round this- it's a truly lovely program, but as it's not in the least bit confusing it's not in all people tastes >;) I boot into XOSL, then choose Linux, or, if I *REALLY HAVE TO*, into Win98 or Windows 2000.
The downside is that you'd need to create a partition for it lie on if your primary partition isn't FAT/FAT32(the documentation's really good but I don't have to hand). Again, Partition Magic or somesuch maybe needed.
I found an article on dual booting Linux with Windows 2000 pro, and the issues surrounding NTFS and linux booting (no mention of partitioning: http://www.littlewhitedog.com/reviews_other_00011.asp
