I'm having installation trouble. I thought I'd managed it a while ago but my HP Laserjet5M didn't print. I've googled and found the Ubuntu community docs page which says you should remove lp from /etc/modules so I've done that (and the other things it advises) but typing in hp-toolbox it says no HP device is installed even though the installation program says it is and lpinfo -v gave it (rather a long way down) as an option.
Any ideas people? Have I missed something obvious? For example are the power cable and parallel port plug enough?
I'm replying to this from work so apologies to all in advance for the spurious disclaimer at the end (which is added automatically).
I had something similar with Ubuntu 6.10, I wonder if your problem is related? Anyway take a look at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/4098 and see if it helps.
Regards,
Keith Watson
