I've been away for a while from ALUG, so there must be people who don't know me. My name is Tatsuhiko Maegawa. I live in Fukui, Japan. And I've got blog: http://blog.jazzman.jp
I've studied at UEA at late 90s, and that's where my relationship with ALUG began. Turmoils on returning to Japan hampered my will to stay with ALUG for a while. Now that I'm doing right, I decided to join back again.
These days I use Gentoo Linux, customized for Japanese environment but not perfectly - yet.
Now from June the company that I work will have seven "international" interns. I've checked the details of what they do, and found out that these people do have used "Linux" before.
I wonder how far these students know about Linux. Since these people know C++, I assume they can install it, use it, and develop some.
Yours
Tatsuhiko Maegawa

Or maybe want to sell a batch of tripe and onions and some Morris dancing clogs. Or whatever the Japanese stereotypical view is of us Brits.

Damn! I thought we had you trained to use Debian before you left the UK, now we're going to have to fix it again :)
Anyways - good to see you back on the list, Tats. I think you're currently winning in the "Furthest From East Anglia" stakes ;)
Cheers,

IIRC Little London is between Shelfanger and Winfarthing, but if there's a bigger one somewhere, I couldn't say.

We're not that isolated!
Not far from me are
-- America (about 15 miles, where the road from Sutton [not that one, the other one] to Earith hits Fen level)
-- Botany Bay (about 5 miles upstream beside the Little Ouse)
(And there's another Little London in Essex, near Stansted; it's all about choice!)
Ted.

12 hours on direct flight to London, then 2 hours on train journey to Norwich or the direct flight to Norwich via Amsterdam with KLM. Whichever, Japan is as far as London :) All I need is buck lords of money.
Right, now the question. University kids and Linux experience. Any thought anyone?
