I was told when joining this list I was supposed to write a short bit on why i'm interested in Linux, well I'm using it as a friend of mine said do you want to try this out whilst shoving a copy of RH9 under my nose and that was about 2 months ago. I use it for school work on a laptop at both school and work.Any way so far i've found it very stable and openoffice seems to be capable competition to MS office so that's all good so far, its lack of laptop and modem support seem to be the only real problems I've had with it (I will say that it seems a bit more complex to do simple things some times but when doing them you can do more). The ALUG group seems pretty enthusiastic about the subject, its just a shame you don't have meetings where I can get to them (around Ipswich would be good).

http://www.tuxmobil.org/ helps me with laptops. Modems I've never had trouble with. Those glorified soundcards they misname "winmodems" have been trouble when I've met them.

We can if you want. See http://www.alug.org.uk/articles/2003/howtomeet.html for a start (improvements welcome).
