New to Linux, my distro while excellent for my requirements is somewhat thin on choice of apps to d/l.
Are there any non-commercial Linux repositories where such apps are available? Tia.
Hi and welcome.
You've picked the right place to ask, assuming the docs for your distro don't tell you. The $64,000 question is, which distro? The answer depends on that.
Regards,
Marcus.

Er, what's the distro?
All FOSS apps are available for download somewhere, you just need to know how to install them. All distros support installation from source, most if not all have some form of package manager available. It all depends...
Cheers, Laurie.

Hnng?
First: Which distribution - there may well be repositories available for it that you haven't enabled, and even if not, it would give us some hint of the package format that you're after.
Second: What "apps" are you looking for?
Third: Worst case scenario, you grab the development tools and build from source.
