Re.Poster: sorry a bit patchy, I'm not much good at that kind of stuff. Plus I'm in a hurry after being bored for ages - I sit here helplessly month after month having various "upgrades" done to my computer whether I want them or not....from win95 to Win98 to WinME, then Office 97 up to Office2000 which has just been installed and so far i am unable to administer my own database and it all seems to be operating at the speed of a slug. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. The installation has a GUI like a 5yr old's rendition of cubism. Needless to say we have a winNT server, which needless to say crashes on a regular basis. The word "linux" brings a sneer to the lips of the administrators, however, and I have to conduct my experiments in a furtive corner of my office. Rant over, back to work (if I can get anything to, that is...) Jen. PS.Glad u like cd, David. Turn up the bass.

Like I said, I have the artistic ability of a road accident. And I know that I speak for everyone on the list when I say Thank you for helping.

I know I'm not unique on the list in having spent 18months supporting windows 9x and NT and also Novell Netware.
9x is ok in that when it crashes (i.e. every few minutes) its usually fixable quickly. NT when it crashes, like the OS's as airlines email says, it takes out everything for 40 miles. Novell has to be the most stable OS I have seen, it only crashed once in 36months!
Needless to say we have a winNT server, which needless to say crashes on a regular basis. The word "linux" brings a sneer to the lips of the administrators, however, and I have to conduct my experiments in a furtive corner of my office.
NT - Not tested, Not tough, etc... I am amazed at the frequency at which it goes up and down, and even more so by the shear number of companies relying on it for there core systems. When will people learn.

Back to college.

No, on the contry(sp?) we only had one crash on the novell server in 3 years. My linux box has crashed twice in a year!(could be PEBKAC)
Thanks
