Is there any way to prevent those annoying 'share' pop-ups in Firefox?
Do those 'share' bookmarking pop-ups annoy anyone else? They drive me crazy popping up when the cursor moves over them. Is there any way to stop them popping up? They're obviously not standard pop-up windows because I already have 'Block Pop-ups' ticked in my preferences. -- Chris Green

Never seen one - no idea really what you mean. FF 2 on the Eee and Iceweasel mumble-mutter on the Acer. I won't offer to look at a URL because of my very slow GPRS connection at home - I try not to go on the www except when I really need to, or when I can find wifi. -- Tony Anson www.girolle.co.uk/

You mean those Facebook / Twitter / Google / Delicious / Myspace / Digg popup thingies? Yes they are really annoying. On one forum I frequent, they are placed near the page navigation buttons, so if you accidentally hover over those popup bits then you have to hover over it again to un-popup it. I have NoScript enabled and it still gets through. My guess is that the JS that creates that is part of the site you want to visit, therefore it's already premitted in NoScript due to the user enabling JS for a site the user wants to visit. Not really sure how to disable it - maybe some greasemonkey extension or something? Regards, Srdjan

You have it exactly!

Yes, they seem to always be placed such that you're likely to hit them by mistake.

I don't think I've ever seen one. So maybe I'm blocking them without knowing. Do you have an example url? -- nev

Here's the one that annoyed me enough yesterday to post my message:- http://www.raygrahams.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=91086 If you hover your mouse over the little 'Share' strip above the Quick Find search box over on the RHS you should (if you're unlucky like me) get a "Bookmark and Share" pop-up window apppearing. -- Chris Green

AH right! Never seen one of them before. I dissapeared it with addblockplus by adding the line ##[src="./images/lg-share-en.gif"] to my filters. -- nev

Not a promble for me - I use none of them. Indeed, two of them I've never heard of... -- Tony Anson www.girolle.co.uk/

It's not related to *using* Facebook / Twitter / Google / Delicious / Myspace / Digg - it's a pop-up inviting you to bookmark the current page on one of those services which appears even if you'd never even consider doing such a thing. -- Chris Green
