Just found an old webcam at the back of a cupboard, plugged it in to my Ubuntu box, installed Camorama, and woot! it works. Which set me to wondering. Camorama can be to record a picture from the webcam every (say) 20 minutes. What I was wondering was is there is any software out there that records the picture at a set interval, but only if the webcam image changes (you'd presumably need some sort of change threshold, to cope with minor changes). Any thoughts, anyone? Greg
I think there's a program called Motion. I've not used it before, I only know about it because it's included in the Knoppmyth distro. There's a wiki here: http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome Matt -----Original Message----- From: main-bounces@lists.alug.org.uk [mailto:main-bounces@lists.alug.org.uk] On Behalf Of Greg Thomas Sent: 02 December 2007 15:20 To: ALUG Subject: [ALUG] Webcam as security monitor Just found an old webcam at the back of a cupboard, plugged it in to my Ubuntu box, installed Camorama, and woot! it works. OK, that looks good. Downloaded and installed, just need to configure it now. Thanks to both Adam & Matt
