I'm having two issues which may be related.
Using Dolphin file manager, 'open with' will open the app selected from the dropdown list. Using PCManfm, which I prefer and normally use, clicking on the app has no effect.
Any idea how to change that and make it open the selected app?
In Libre Office, it used to be possible to compose a document and then do 'send as', for instance a Word file or a pdf. Libre Office now no longer finds the email application, and I haven't discovered where to set this. Any idea?
This is Debian and Fluxbox, but I don't think it can be a function of Fluxbox since it works fine with Dolphin running in it.

Try right clicking on a file (e.g. text file) Either click on Properties, then Change "OpenWith" to whichever app you want, or Open With> then Open With..., then pick the app. Then see if it works.
It seems that pcmanfm keeps default app names in a couple of places - see: https://lkubaski.wordpress.com/2012/10/29/understanding-file-associations-in...

Oh, actually, LibreOffice (Writer), Tools/Options/Internet/Email Mine is set for "sensible-lomua" - I don't know what that is, but it opens my email client.
Googling "libreoffice email app location" gives several results.
