ATM, UEA is just one big, noisy building site! I don't what it'll be like at the end of June....
Hmm, sounds interesting :-) Didn't know about that. What is being done to it?
What rooms do you normally use at UEA? Union House is fairly inaccessible ATM.
No idea - don't know the place at all, sorry! Others do - where does ALUG usually meet?

Union House (1.28, 1.33 and Hive), Nelson Court and Constable Terrace have all been used. UH used to be easier and nearer pub.

I've just been in touch with the staff at Union House:
"Unfortunately, we have no rooms as such to let out until the building work is complete which is September. I do have the LCR at certain times, but need to know what you require one for."
The LCR is a large space usually used for concerts and things; probably not very suitable.
I expect that rooms may be available Nelson Court and Constable Terrace though (note here that these residences are used as conference accommodation during the summer).
Cheers, Richard

When is the end of the current academic year?

Ends on 11-06-04.
As far as I can tell, conferences around the end of June only take up the 22nd-24th (Tues-Thurs) so that probably won't be a problem.

Thanks for your help tracking down info, Richard. BTW mail to your account is being returned for some reason. Email me off-list with a phone number and I can tell you the error messages.

Which is a better venue for ALUG, Nelson Court or Constable Terrace?
NC is nearer main car park and pub. CT has a car park nearer to the room, but I am not sure whether we would be allowed cars there any more? UEA-based folks, please answer!

OK, so making a quick executive decision and moving on, I have asked one of the ALUG members who is at UEA to book Nelson Court for the afternoon of sunday 28th June. Hope this is OK with everyone.

28th of June is a Monday.

But it was a Sunday in 1998... :) and it'll be a sunday again in 2009... isn't that close enough? ;)
Cheers,

I don't have a clue about the CT(Constable Terrace?) car park. Where is it? Ill check it out when i go up there today if i can find it. I was only going there to play with the Library wireless cards(i wanna see if there Linux compatible). The main car park is quite cheap off-peak.
Just out of interest do i speak to the same person about booking conference rooms at the UEA as i would if I'm booking a room in union house?

You didn't in the past, but I am years out of date. UH was booked via the Union and common rooms in NC and CT were booked via UEA Room Bookings.

They're building a new hall of residence (this is out of the way so won't really affect a meeting); they're extending the library (this is near the centre of campus, is noisy and has required closing roads and paths); and they're building some fiercely modern glass dome affair on Union House and over the Street (which has been reduced to two dingy walkways while the centre is completely boarded off).
So its only really if you normally use Union House that it might be a problem.
