So my main HP Pavilion laptop recently died ... it looks pretty permanent. It had a fairly good run, so I'm going to have to start looking for a replacement. Just wondered if anyone had any interesting thoughts or suggestions. I'm looking for a main PC. Sort of interested in shared tablet things like the Lenovo Yoga 3, though I'm not sure if it's a mite small. I see there has been some success getting Debian running on it. Hi I bought myself a new machine at Christmas from http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ they had a nice range good customisation and the ability not to pay the Microsoft tax. They also had a variety of form factors, may be worth a look. Also the forums had a Linux forum for help and support and people offering advice. Ben

And ebuyer are currently offering an HP355 with ubuntu (albeit 12.04) for under £250. I have no experience of that machine, but I did buy a rather good zoostorm laptop (without any OS installed) from them a while back (and, of course, I have bought loads of other stuff from them). http://www.ebuyer.com/705954-hp-355-quad-core-laptop-with-ubuntu-l8b55es Mick --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mick Morgan gpg fingerprint: FC23 3338 F664 5E66 876B 72C0 0A1F E60B 5BAD D312 http://baldric.net ---------------------------------------------------------------------

I've not found anything Debian won't run on. I'm using a pre-loved (HP) Compaq 2510p (notebook?) and running 64-bit Mint. Haven't any complaints, and the battery lasts a *lot* longer than the last one - a MSI notebook. -- Tony http://www.girolle.co.uk/
