Hi all,
First, apologies for being off-topic, but I'm exploring all opportunities.
When I complete my Ph.D. research a few years ago, I done all my work on an SGI. On reviewing my work recently, I discovered that most of animations I created are in SGIs movie format. I've tried some options including xanim to view them in linux, but because I created the movies with compression on each frame, I can't get them to play.
Rather than recreating the original files, what I really want to do is convert these files from SGI format to quicktime, or extract the original frames. In fact, there is a command to do this on the SGI - dmconvert.
Before I go ahead and buy an SGI via eBay or similar (which may or may not work), I was wondering whether anyone here has, or has access to an SGI which could do the movie conversion.
I could supply the original movies on CD for you to convert, or we could work together to do this.
I know this is a long shot, but can anyone help me?

If you can't find anyone who actually has an SGI themselves to help I know at least a couple of people who might be able to help out.

I'm sending this email from the SGI O2 that's currently sitting on my desk.
Get in touch.
