This is the automated ALUG IRC meeting reminder sent to remind you that there is an IRC meeting tonight (Monday) at 8.00pm.
The meeting takes place on the irc server irc.openprojects.net in the #alug channel, you can take a look at www.openprojects.net to get more info on the openprojects network.
Most IRC clients should allow you to get there with the commands "/server uk.openprojects.net" or "/server eu.openprojects.net" and "/join #alug".
Popular IRC clients include tkirc, bitchx, xchat and EPIC on Unix, and Mirc under windows. Here are some links to help you get started with irc.

This is still true

This will still work but we are moving to a different server! See the email MJR sent yesterday. (text appended below)

/server irc.alug.org.uk will get you there, usage of the old servers is not reccomended, also you will need to register your nick with nickserv on the new network.

This is still all true but you may also want to try chatzilla in Mozilla (note i have never used it!) but it may be newbie freindly.
any questions?

So, where to move to? The options, in my current order of preference:
OK, as mentioned before:
Tomorrow's meeting will be on irc.alug.org.uk #alug which currently points to one of the irc.oftc.net servers. The contrib pages have been updated to match. The main pages should update tonight. If we change networks again, the irc.alug.org.uk will be updated too.
As not mentioned before:
There will probably be a quieter connection between networks during tomorrow's meeting, so that anyone who hasn't seen these emails can be told about the move.
I will be abandoning irc.openprojects.net #alug after tomorrow's IRC meeting. Apparently non-software projects and community channels are not welcome there, according to the OpenProjects "demigod". This week, two community channels were "juped" (forced closure) and everyone in them banned from the servers, according to reports.

Hey, you only need to use nickserv if you want to, or you are managing the channel. Your choice.
