Eventually I started getting BIOS boot memory errors. New RAM module fixed it.

Does anyone know of software to test physical memory?

memtest86 is good, I've got it as a boot option from lilo now. http://www.memtest86.com/

I have 2 RAM modules, 1 new, 1 older. I guess 1 might be giving problems. I've borrowed some RAM from work to see if that fixes it.
