Hi Andy Not up to speed on all the ins'n'outs of using cups over a network, but I have been able to configure it to talk to a remote netjet printer. What problems are you having ? Regards, Paul. On Wednesday 02 November 2005 19:39, Andy Trevor wrote:

It has 5 network printers/print servers hanging off it. The are 6 Application servers that service 250 thin clients. These are running as CUPS clients to the above unit. The issue is that the printing is horribly unreliable. Stuff works and then just queues up. Clear the queue and it runs for a while and then stops again :( I also need to find a way to do quotas per user per printer

You might want to take a look at this article, which covers CUPS pretty well: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/quick-samba-howto.xml This one is more specific to your needs, I think: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/printing-howto.xml or this: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/ltsp.xml As a general hint, a lot of the gentoo documentation, although non-generic in parts, is extremely good, and can offer serious help with configs.
