This isn't strictly Linux, but I thought people might be interested in it. There is an Apache event planned for:
Conference: October 23-25 2000 Exhibition: October 24-25 2000 Olympia Conference Centre London, UK
It is going to cover a load of stuff (over 60 sessions) including:
Security & Ecommerce Securing Apache on Unix and Windows Java, PHP, Perl, TCL, Python, XML, XSL Performance, load balancing and case studies Apache installation, compilation, configuration scripting languages and dynamic content (mod_perl, mod_php, mod_jserv, ASP) Tips for writing Apache modules
More information is supposed to be available at http://www.apachecon.com/2000/EU/, but the piece of paper I have in front of me has more information on it currently. Oh well.

If your company's paying, I'll be there!
Seriously, I think I'll be there on Friday, although I still have nfi who's going to pick up the tab. Depends if I can find another good reason to go down to London at the start of a month (almost certainly not). Anyone else going? Time for a quick ALUG drink?

Sounds good to me! I reckon I'll be there, but later in the day.
Cheers, Laurie.

Although I'm not sure whether I'll be there to attend the Expo this week (assuming it's the 8th or 9th this week) - anybody who fancies a short meeting up in Greenwich (where I work, incidently) will be treated to a pint or several at the local pub around 5:30pm ish or maybe around Liverpool Street Station (then I'm off back to Norwich by train for the weekend - bye bye London!).
Besides which, I'll have the full copy of SuSE 6.4 on me for those that want it before the next proper meeting back in East Anglia - apologies for not turning up or getting in touch with regards to the speaker last month but have been snowed under with work, travelling and all sorts of stuff.
Regards,
Martyn

Erm,
Linux Expo2000 was last Thursday and Friday, Laurie, Mark, Brett, and Lauries friend Andrew? plus me were there. The show itself was alright. SGI had some nice machines running Quake III. Unfortunately most freebees were gone in the afternoon when I arrived :-( Alan Cox gave an enlightening talk about where the kernel is and where it is going and more stuff like that really.

Just goes to show what an 8 hour time difference + 11 hours on a plane can do to your internal clock, i.e. not sure which day of the week it is. D'oh!

I was one the Debian stand on Thursday. Bought a T-shirt. Did you see the penguin made of ice on the SGI stand? That was cool ;-) They were pouring vodka through it.
There was a free bar Thursday evening, paid for by Linux Format, to try and get Debian to buy some advertising. I got rather drunk before making my way on the underground back to Liverpool Street. Although, I must say that I do not think Debian will be buying any advertising in Linux Format, what with having no budget.

I have exams Wednesday, Friday, Saturday. I will be there on Thursday. Travelling down on the train. Leaving Norwich early, coming back on the late. I will be wearing my Debian T-shirt, and manning the Debian stand.

OK, does anyone know a good pub or meeting point in the area? Care to fix a time (when does it end on Friday? I'd suggest 30mins before so that we get the pub before it's busy. I'm not going to express a preference for Thus as I shan't be there). Any of the now-London-based ALUGers going to be dropping in? (Martyn? Thom?)
Hmmm,
Looks like I'll be coming on Friday,
Adam

OK, seeing as no-one else appears to have a strong preference, shall we meet Friday 1220-1230 at the entrance, to head for a pub nearby for lunch/a drink?

I should be arriving just about then. Booting up with a pub lunch sounds a great way to start. Hope to see you there.

Sounds good to me, although work commitments mean I may now not be able to come :-( If I am there though see you at half twelve.
I am now definetly coming and will be there outside at half twelve ready to go to lunch.
Anyone else?

I'll definitely be there too, but I have no idea when. My mobile number is 07768 058002, but I'll try to be outside by 12:30 for a sherbert. I must see SuSE, and would like to go to their presentation at 14:45.
Cheers, Laurie.

I'll be there and Brett *ought* to be there (assuming he doesn't get lost on the bizarre yet fast route that Railtrack have given him). We'll be trying to find each other and our tickets at 1030 anyway ;-) FWIW, it looks like we miss Red Hat's talk on Linux in the Enterprise at 1230 and anyone wanting to see the "Great Linux Debate" between RH, SuSE, IBM, Corel and Fujitsu at 1300 will have to say hi and run, probably. I'm not that bothered on that, as I end up getting really annoyed with that sort of thing.
MJR Me? Annoyed? When have you ever known that?
