I recently acquired a SGI Indy with IRIX 6.5 to run my old Ph.D. research on. This now works and I can run the original executables I built several years ago.
However, I can't actually recompile any code, because I need an additional piece of software:
MIPSpro C Compiler
Given that the members of this group come from a variety of backgrounds, I was wondering if anyone out there has a license for this software they no longer require, or can supply it at a low cost.
Any help would be useful. Thank-you in advance.

I also recently acquired an SGI Indy, so welcome! Unfortunately mine comes sans-monitor, so its only use so far has been so I can cannibalise a SCSI cable.... planning on trying out linux on it at some point... when I can think of a cunning way to get linux on there....
Anyway... on to your question... doesn't gcc run on irix?, or do you specifically need the MIPSpro compiler?
Rob.

As far as I can tell the MIPSpro compiler is what I used before whilst at University, so will probably work best with SGI IRIX. If my searches do not yield results, I will try the GNU tools.
