I've been playing with this bug/infelicity for ages and I'm coming to the conclusion that it's maybe a Firefox bug in its handling of CSS.
Could any kind souls out there with nothing better to do take a look at:-
http://84-45-228-40.no-dns-yet.enta.net/twiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome
and tell me if the Search box at the top right and the text underneath it is 'off window' to the right and makes a horizontal scroll bar appear?
In IE it's perfect, everything in the right place and no horizontal scroll bar. In Firefox I get the horizontal scroll bar, the degree of the error varies according to the font size (and minimum font size) you set in preferences. I've discussed it with the author of the Twiki skin but he hasn't really been able to resolve the problem.
If anyone can check it in browsers other than IE or Firefox that would be very useful but even other versions of Firefox would be interesting.

I get similar -- cut off at "Login | Register | Pr.... -- but no horizontal scroll bar! Firefox 1.0.4.

I've had similar problems with Firefox on other sites, which did seem to set in after I'd "messed with" the font sizes. However, I'm not sure about that, since I can get similar problems with and old Mozilla.
On quite a lot of sites I get parts of the window enlarged and overlaying other parts, as if Firefox is not calculating its layout according the the sizes of displayed objects.
One site which does irritate me is
(e.g. if you want to do a postcode search, or a track&trace). Some of the links on that page do work, but others seem not to be active (you don't even get the mouse pointer changing to a "hand" pointer as you hover); and if you click on a text entry box to activate the text cursor, nothing happens. Yet this used to work not so long ago. But I bet it works on IE!!!!!!!
Hmmm. Ted.

Ah, that's the effect I get in Mozilla 1.7, I think if you go to Firefox 1.5 you'll find you get the same layout but *with* a horizontal scroll bar.

Yes, it's a pain isn't it!

Yes the spooky thing about royalmail.com is that I hear it works perfectly on Mozilla/Windows but has this strange behaviour on Mozilla/Linux
And what's with the massive amount of whitespace when you view source of that royal mail page ?

Firefox 1.5 here. I get the horizontal scroll bar and the search text box is extending beyond the edge of the screen (hence the scroll bar) however the text below "Login|Register|Print" looks to be in the right place.
Checked it in Opera, IE6 and Firefox 1.5.0.7 (windows versions) and it appears fine in all of them.

I'm still not really clear whether it's a Firfox bug or something awry with the TWiki CSS and templates but I have found a workaround which is why it looked OK to you - I'd done the fix by the time you looked.
The fix was purely to set a width (in ems) to the TopRight table, it's a bodge but it works OK.
