Is there any way to change the default MTU in Linux -SNIP-

In response to my own question (for the archives, you see), I edited the /etc/ppp/options file, adding the lines mtu 576 #this is for outgoing connections mru 576 #this is for incoming connections (actually, I didn't add the comments).
