These reports have been coming out for months now, but I am very worried that I haven't seen many 'good' reports of Win2k becoming reliable.
The DoJ is reportedly pondering whether to make Windows open source. Quite what they call open source is open to debate, but if it means something like the GPL the title "The World Is Not Enough" springs to mind. Why? Because if programmers get their mits on the source code, it will branch off into hundreds of versions, none of which will work properly (I can do C, but I bet I could break the Linux source code by altering it - and Windows is far more complex) and the MS-official version will spread like wildfire. How many organisations/countries are deploying Linux because Windows is too expensive?
Open Source Windows and all hell will break loose. Quite whether anyone would deploy any Windows version not officially MS-sanctioned is another matter...
