Machines on shelves? whats the point of having a rack mount chassis and putting it on a shelf?
Well, if you don't have shelves then you will find that your computers will increase their natural density overnight :-) (as in they will be in a heap on the floor) the racks are designed to make sure they are held securely on the shelves. If you want them to be secured without shelves then you will have to be prepared to have a seperate rack for each type of machine. Welcome to the world of 19" rackmount kit, where you should be working to a standard but whos standard nobody knows! each machine will have a different depth, some of them won't even have mounting points on the back.
Trust me, repeat 10 times *I need shelves for my rackmount computers*
