Hi, I'm having a serious problem with my fedora system. It won't read any removable media, dvds, cds, memory cards, memory sticks etc. I've had a look at a few things online and tried a few things but it looks like I have to learn quite a lot about linux programming if I want to fix it. It seems like a whole section of my system has malfunctioned. All I really want is for it to read a boot disc so I can update my system, then presumably the reading removable media problem will right itself. I'm currently on Fedora 15, and didn't update it for quite a while, so I'm rather behind with it in linux terms. I'm not sure why it stopped reading removable media, this happened in April. I have a memory card and memory stick it read and wrote to perfectly well until one day when I transferred videos from my HD camera on a memory card. For some reason this act seemed to cause some problems, and I initially thought it was the memory card, because it seemed to cause problems with my camera when I put it back in. I took it to a computer shop, but when the man there tried it on his computer it worked fine, he couldn't find anything wrong with it, and it has worked fine in the camera ever since, I just can't transfer anything from it to my computer. It was fiddled with a while back by a man who knew linux so it would read the dvds I wanted to watch- Fedora is designed not to read copyrighted media. It hasn't written anything to disc since, but that didn't bother me because it's not what I usually use to transfer files anyway. I would take it to a shop but I don't have the money to pay to just have it looked at, and I don't know how long it would take anyway so can't be sure how much it would cost overall. If  there is any way of updating my system without using removable media that might help, but I can't find anything. I have a boot disc for Fedora 22, (my brother downloaded it on his computer), but it doesn't work because the computer will not read it, it just says there is no filename. I can't work out how to just create a mount point or whatever for the boot disc. I've looked into it but it seems like I have to learn quite a lot just to convince my computer to read the boot disc.
