I have this https://apps.gnome.org/en-GB/Podcasts/ as my podcast 'app' of choice on my desktop and it's been really good for a while now. However, with one pod, I keep getting a 403 error when I try to download an episode and I can't seem to fix it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, unsubscribing and resubscribing and neither of those has worked. No other podcast appears to be affected. Ideas? Bev
No, it isn't paid for. Hmm, may ask them then. Thanks. Bev On Apr 30 2026, at 12:20 pm, Adam Bower <adam@thebowery.co.uk> wrote:

Is it a paid for podcast or similar? 403 is access denied so it's likely the server on the other end saying no you can't have it rather than a problem with the software on your machine.

Further investigation shows it isn't the podcast. It's definitely the application. No other podcast client has this issue. But what to do? *Is* there anything I can do? Bev On Apr 30 2026, at 12:53 pm, Bev Nicolson <lumos@gmx.co.uk> wrote:

I still wonder if it's the other end blocking the user agent of the podcast app or something? What is the podcast and the url you're trying to download from? (feel free to email me off list if you prefer) and maybe I can test this for you. Adam

I agree with Adam. 403 means that the server saw the request, but simply refuses to serve the resource requested. There is usually little you can do about this, it relates normally to some kind of permissions problem. It could also be caused by some access control mechanism which just does not like your IP address.
