I am a long retired person and began delving into computers in 1979 with
a Tandy TSR1 - I then lived in Australia and wrote a programme in Basic
to do the accounts for a garage I was running there. I used LDOS which
was far superior to MSDOS 2.11 that I had to switch to when I bought an
Apricot.
I am not mad keen on either the ethics or practice of Mr Gates (nor that
of Murdoch either) but I am aware that my efforts against them will make
little difference. My first purchase of Linux was some 6 years ago
(SuSE), the the second about 3 (Definite) and the third 2 months ago -
SuSE again and, unlike those previous conversion efforts, I intend to
make it this time. This email comes to you via the "auld enemy" because
I have problems, but they will be overcome! I realize that for a while
I might have to put up with using both systems, but I like the idea of
choice, and not being dominated by the practices of one man.
Kind Regards
Leonard Chandler
