by Owen Synge 05 May '99

* List: alug(a)stu.uea.ac.uk Hello, This is my first posting or contact with you all, I nearly got in touch to come to your meeting but unfortunately I had to clean up after a party the day before, Anyway I am at work and have been given the job of evaluating linux, I can now ping to and from Linux on my network, telnet into linux, ftp into linux, so I am almost there. what I cant do is access NT disks, or see linux from NT, I cant get http access, to this nice little 486, all of which are essential, any suggestions of running a linux box on an TCP/IP based network greatfully accepted Owen ********************************************************************** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. However on installation it stops at the configure mouse section. It gives me a menu button to carry on installation but nothing works (apart from setting the root password). I also can not make a boot floppy, it asks me to put the floppy in the drive but does not write anything to the disk. Does anyone know what's up with it? Ashley Mr. Ashley T. Does your BIOS support booting off of CD-ROM? If so, if you enable it, it will begin the installation. I haven't tried making boot floppies from that CD-ROM that I distributed, as I always boot of off CD-ROM these days :) M.
