Hi, Does anyone here have any opinions on FreeShell.org? Having tried most of the available clients I can recommend Pegasus. Far more stable than Eudora (which has been known to corrupt active directory), All the features that you could possibly wish for and supports multiple clients either on one machine or can be configured for a network. Best of all, totally free!

Really off topic!

I know this is really off topic but please pander to my whim. Does anybody know of a good free (preferably open source or gpl'd) secure email client for Windows 2k/xp? I'm sick to death of the various flavours of Outlook/OE etc. It would be nice to be able to download mail when I *have* to use Windows without always worring about the gaping holes in security. -- Cheers, BJ

by David Robinson 18 May '02

I'd like to come along to this. I've been trying to install Debian onto my laptop. I've partioned the disk ok and can dual-boot it and got Linux installed as far as the basics, but can't get X to install. So I need help. Do you need to know anything else from me in the meantime? David Robinson

Does anyone know of a good X86 disassembler that recognises DOS .exe file formats? I need to look at a DOS TSR to try to get sound working on my Linux box. TIA Ian

Maybe you SuSE vets could cast some light here ... I can't get SuSE to install using ReiserFS partitions. Everytime, at some point during the package copying process the install hangs - I've seen other people report the problem but haven't seen any fixes/explanations. Anyone know anything? -----Original Message----- From: Craig [mailto:craigo@wizball.co.uk] Sent: Thursday, May 16, 2002 10:36 AM To: ALUG Subject: Re: [Alug] Re: What the postman brought On Thu, May 16, 2002 at 09:03:58AM +0100, Laurie Brown said: > I've been using SuSE since 5.3, but all my servers are going Gentoo now. > I'm glad they pushed me into it really, because the bloat in SuSE (and RH, > Mandrake et al) is getting ludicrous. Hi, Just received 2 oreilly posters and "oreilly direct" catalogues for ALUG. I'll bring them along to the next ALUG (or pass them on so they get there). Andrew. -- All views are my own .... who else would want them?

Thanks for this. I wasn't sure what state ext3 was in but it does sound like an easy way forward. My logic in asking the question on this thread:
