Jo, Jen, Mark, BJ, Earl, Neill, adam, fozzy what sundays in august can all 8 of you make? I am trying to get martlesham scout hut for a sunday in august. once we conclude the meet there is a nice big green with a pub so I was going to suggest we get a couple of disposable BBQ's and have a nice social. We could even move the meet to say 1-5 so we get some more time. Also the scout hut will cost to hire, so as well as a small contribution from people coming I will raffle off a T-shirt and book from O'reilly. Also I was thinkning of inviting Lonix as our guests? We could combine this as a bit of a birthday bash for LUGITES[1], adam - 15th, me 31st, Jo - 1/9, jen 17 or 18 /9, et al.. list, For the afor mentioned BBQ idea to go ahead we need some participation from members, we need people to offer to do the cooking and also people to volunteer food and maybe disposable BBQ's. Both jobs are very simple and wont entail much effort, I think cooking can be a sort of collective thing but we will need someone to start off the food etc... Then we need the food, now if with some coordination a few people each bring small individual items we could get a nice collection toegether and share food as well as source[pun intended]. Alug Book emporuim

All, I have just spoken to pearson Education who are offering a discount on there books to ALUG members, we just have to put a link on the web page to there site which if we use gives us the discount. Pearson are offering Prentice hall books which are the publishers of books by Andrew Tanenbaum. Andrews books are some of the best technical ones out there, his book on OS's helped Linus no end when he was writting linux originally. Also his book "Computer Networks" 3rd edition is very good and recommended reading for all members. Whilst on the subject of books, I was thinking of taking Jens page on Lniux books and building it into a larger page with details of the ALUG discounts and also the recommended reading list.
