Gentus Linux

Those of you who were at the last meet at Syleham will recall the difficulty I had getting Linux to install with my Abit BE6 motherboard's ATA66 IDE controller. Gentus Linux http://www.gentus.com/ seems to be an answer to this problem, a Red Hat based distro from the makers of the offending motherboard specifically targeted at the ATA66 IDE controller problem. I'm downloading it at the moment 675Mb over 56k modem link! So anybody trying to give me a voice call expect an answer sometime after Euro 2004. :-) Cheers, BJ

Hi, With regards to the ongoing discussion of the anglian.lug.org.uk web site, would there be any objections if I moved the site (and DNS) onto my own server which can then be updated as and when either by myself or anybody that wants to add anything? I need to start filling up my lonely 17Gb hard drive with something! ;) Regards, Martyn

I'll need to make a move with regards to arranging the SuSE presentation and need to have definite dates and times ASAP. Hi, I've stuck the most recent photos of our last Alug meeting on my own, Red Hat server box running Zeus at:- http://www.bleeding-edge.net/alug/photos If things should go ahead for a meeting on the 19th July at UEA (at 2pm as a rough guide), Roger Whittaker has stated that it is very possible for him to do it at that date and time. Administrivia: List Outage

There is an electrical shutdown at UEA this weekend, so the Student Union mailserver will be offline for the duration. This happens once a year and should not actually be visible other than a slight delay on list traffic (but I'm just announcing it so that you know why it's slow). If it's like last year, services may be restored by Sunday lunchtime. MJR
