I used to worry about the 1024 limit thing but when I went to grub I read something that suggested it shouldn't be a problem with newer PC hardware. Remote Calendar

I'm looking for a way of keeping an up to date calendar on my Debian/Apache/PHP/MySQL web server which I can view and edit from Linux, Windows and Mac client machines over the Internet if possible. I quite like the idea of using the Mozilla Sunbird Calendar and setting up a WebDav server on Apache. Does anyone have experience of this? Google found me a tutorial here http://www.twilight-systems.com/flacco/mozcal/mozcal-webdav.html As a bonus, what I'd *really* like to be able to do is sync the calendar with the one in my mobile phone so I can access it when I'm on the move. This is the bit that may be difficult because I'm not sure how to go about it. The phone I'm talking about is a WAP and Java enabled Siemens SL45i and has a built in Calendar which can be synchronised with Outlook. I don't want to use Outlook for obvious reasons but perhaps someone knows of a Java app for phones which can sync with Calendar software on the PC or preferably the calendar stored on my WebDav server? However, I'd rather not have to use the WAP on the mobile phone too often because it's expensive on my tarriff so perhaps I could sync that locally with one of the client machines? I suppose a more ideal solution would be buying a Zaurus to give me more options, but I don't have that kind of money :) Any ideas? deletion of source packages

Can anyone tell me where the source packages are saved to on a SuSE system when you do a YaST Online Update? I forgot to check the automatically delete source packages after completing the update process, and now I would like to manually delete the packages. problem installing jbuilder on SuSE 9.1

I get this output ./install_linux: line 930: file.lax: Read-only file system Can't load library "/media/cdrecorder/setup/jre/linux/lib/i386/libjava.so", because /media/cdrecorder/setup/jre/linux/lib/i386/libjava.so: symbol __libc_wait, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference Could not create the Java virtual machine. when running ./install_linux which is the installer script. The strange thing is that I successfully installed this thing on SuSE 9.0 without the slightest hitch. I don't understand why it doesn't work for 9.1 Can I do something about this? Also, I have installed the javaSDK on the system but this is probably irrelevant. Cheers for any help you may be able to give. Booting multiple Linux versions

OK, so to wake up the list a bit, here's a nice simple question. I have a Slackware 9.1 system running and would like to install the (brand new!) Slackware 10.0 as well. The hard disk has a 30Gb partition with 9.1 on it and 30Gb spare on which I can install the new 10.0. So far so good. Installing the Slackware 10.0 should be fairly straightforward I think, I haven't had any big problems with previous versions. However I'm not quite sure how I get the boot menu to present me with the alternative versions. Can anyone give me any guidance. Will I have a problem because of the second (new, 10.0) version being beyond cylinder 1024 or whatever the limitation is? -- Chris Green (chris(a)areti.co.uk)

SUSE 9.1 Personal Free Download

distrowatch.com is reporting (http://www.distrowatch.com/01692) that SUSE 9.1 Personal ISO is now Available for Free Download from SUSE's FTP server and mirrors. There's nothing official on this from SUSE as far as I can tell though, but it seems to be intentional! Anyone heard any more on this? I may be giving SUSE a go for the first time if I can get it downloaded. tola ^/. Red Hat Registration & apm

Hello, can anyone help to solve 2 problems I have with red hat 9 1. I cannot register for updates. The first step (privacy statement) remains blank with the cursor showing busy. The next set of steps are filled in with the required information, but finishes with the error, problem registering user name. 2. If I use the apm command to suspend or standby, the screen shuts down then immediately turns itself back on, then the terminal window continually writes, root @ localhost root, until it is full. Then all programs do not respond,then eventually the whole screen is locked so the computer has to be turned off. Bob Jarvis. (New to Linux)

Samba quandry

Hello there I have two linux boxes running samba. Both have the same workgroup. On both machines I have user 'charles' with the same smb password. However to see each other's user shares I am asked to log in. How do I make the smb server accept the 'charles' from the remote machine as the local charles? On window shares, without domains, matching username/passwords is usually the only requirement. Cheers Charles
