Sorry I can't remember what distribution you're using, so I can't advise how to fix it permanently, but you could try using the "route" command to delete any route on the internal network. > I have a 3com ethernet card in the machine as well which has an IP > address of 10.10.10.2 this is configured at bootup with a default > gateway of 10.10.10.1. how do I change it all to work with PPP? It should just work, but why is there a gateway if this is the ppp machine... ie, is there another network beyond 10.10.10.1?

It's reportedly an improvement on NS4.7x in many respects, but incompatible in some others (third party plugins are troublesome at the moment) and has too much debugging code left in because they forked and fixed what is now quite an old Moz rather than maintaining a patchset. I'll wait a little, then try building a new Moz. MJR

Thanks to all who replied, for somereason, changing the cable allows it to work under kppp. I can now log into my isp and get an ip connection. but I can't get anywhere else as I think my default route and my DNS isn't configured right. Wont resolve names and pings don't work for any address other than the other end of my ppp link. well I got a ELSA 56K Internet external modem and it works fine dialing on NTLWorld free service.I use kppp, pap auth.I dont know what UKLinux.net uses but check your modem cable. Some have 4 wires some have 2. Linux Newbie PPP problem
by David Freeman 11 Nov '00

11 Nov '00

All, Before I get to the problem I am having I should really introduce my self. I am a 18 year old C programmer from Ipswich presently working for a telco in the area. I have been using linux for a while now, Redhat >5.2 + SUSE >6 at work. With suse 6.1, Tomsrbt and small linux at home. Up until now I have had no need to get ppp working, I did try a few months ago to get ppp working using kppp but found that the modem I was using needed a large driver (micro$oft windows). I recently aquired a 28.8 external modem which I have connected to one of my home PC's which is running Peanut linux. I have spent all evening trying to get ppp working and have failed. What I have done is this - * using O'reilly's TCP/IP network admin book I have tried * DIP using a small script as suggested in the book. gets to a login prompt but wont get any further * pppd with chat script, dials in then drops out * Kppp, initiases modem then drops out trying to dail. All this is done using the uklinux.net ISP. If any one can help I would be very Apprecitive. The machine is a amd k6 2/ 200 with 32MB ram duel boot with win95, 3 HD and a haupage TV card* + all the usual refinements. Thanks D * If any one knows how to get this working under Linux I would be interested. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products. how to install Redhat6.2 on a ultra66 hard disk.
by Thai 08 Nov '00

08 Nov '00

Hello everybody, My computer has a Promise ultra66 controller. My hard disk supports ultra66. Do you know how to install redhat 6.2 on that disk which is plugged to ultra66 controller? On Promise web page (www.promise.com) there's a guide to install redhat 6.0 to a ultra66 hard disk. It seems to me that it doesn't work with redhat 6.2. They say that kernel of redhat 6.1 and later versions support ultra66. If we want to use that feature, we have to recompile the kernel. I can recompile the kernel, but I'm not sure if I know where the option that enables ultra66 is and I'm not sure if we can boot linux directly from a ultra66 hard disk after we recompile the kernel or we cannot do that but redhat will regconize any ultra66 hard disk with the condition that we have to boot linux from IDE. Do you have any experience about that? If you've done it before, tell me what you do please. Thank you very much.

Hi, I've eventually managed to persaude Zeus to work alongside Zope and Squishdot (turns out I forgot to compile the pcgi wrapper which of course, is vital in executing the Zope.cgi script - d'oh!!!), so I hope that Mark will be able to upload the existing website from freezope within the next day or so (barring any difficulties with my default install of Zope/Squishdot). I'm still awaiting to hear back from the lug.org.uk folks with getting DNS and MX records updated, but I hope this should go through by tomorrow at the latest so that everything is pointing in the right direction.
