is a good gui tool for mass re-tagging/renaming although I do use rhythembox to find offending tags and sometimes "id3v2" to tag directories and sub-directories.
The musicbrainz tagger seems to have done a good job on at least 50% of the missing tags in my collection without much intervention from me, the remaining missing tags need confirmation to get added to the database. Currently the tagger is windows only but it looks like a Linux version is in the works.
