Well, Solaris is clearly at least a derivative in a way that (say) Linux isn't.
Even quite modern Solaris contains "features" that date back to V7...
I believe that SCO is the "original" unix, and having had to use it in the past and maintain it I can only gladly speak of the "deriatives" that people use now.
SCO is a company, not a product.
