Can somebody give me a pointer to where kscd stores the freedb data for CDs please? I have around 200 audio CDs which I have already fetched details on another OS and I'd like to have the same details available in Linux but would prefer not to have to download them all again.
Oh. It's Mandrake 9 in case it's important.
TIA.
locate kscd
gives:-
/usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb/blues /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb/classical /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb/country /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb/data /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb/folk /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb/jazz /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb/misc /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb/newage /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb/reggae /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb/rock /usr/share/apps/kscd/cddb/soundtrack
Does kscd write back to these directories when it looks up the details of a new cd? If not presumably it also keeps things in a directory under your home directory. With gnome apps I have seen stuff in .cddb and .cddbslave - try those as well as checking for a kscd specific directory, maybe .kscd or somewhere under .kde maybe?>
The format is this (with the filename being the same as the disc ID):-
# xmcd CD database file
See also the documentation for this file format on the freedb.org website - lines may be continued by repeating the key=value combination which the example below doesn't show.
