Hehe. I did so anonymously through a proxy server. They don't know who I am :-)
off topic.....
We found a neat "feature" with java applets and proxies... you can get the machines OS and memory and IP address from a machine behind a proxy by asking the applet to get the information from the local machine on which it has been downloaded and then sending it to the web server ;)....
so are you safe from behind a proxy ?? well sortof ;)
But if packets are being filtered by a firewall, you probably can do nothing whatsoever with that IP address. IN addition, if it is a private IP number, then routers along the way will just discard any packets you try to send it. ---------------------------------- You beat your pate and fancy wit will come; Knock as you will, There's no-one at home -- Alexander Pope Raphael Mankin E-Mail: raph@panache.demon.co.uk ---------------------------------- [ This email came to you via the Anglian Linux User Group list ] [ If you only wish to recieve event announcements, email the ] [ SUBJECT of "unsubscribe" to this list and "subscribe" to ] [ alug-announce@stu.uea.ac.uk -- We do need your support, tho' ]
