Can someone tell me where I have obtain the latest unstable (which is pretty stable no?) Debian in ISO format for direct CD writing please.
You can't get ISO9660 images for Debian unstable distributions, since they change daily at worst (not worth building a new iso every day!) You could just burn a copy of the i386 parts of the ftp archive, which'll work, and I believe there's a utility for creating unstable isos, too.
Alternativly, someone might be able to mirror the i386 lump of the ftp server and bring it to ALUG again. As you say, debian unstable is fairly stable. It is currently frozen, which means that no new packages or upstream versions are being allowed in; it will remain this way for upto six weeks (until all the release critical bugs are fixed), at which point it will be released (complete with prebuilt isos).
