Hi All, - any advice? Installing Debian - would you recommend "Basic" as the O'Reilly Debian book instructs for initial users, or would I be better with one of the other options? I want networking, samba, X. I can see me installing basic then spending the rest of the year trying to add the extras.
With debian it's easy to add extras, that's the idea. I always just install the bare minimum, then you can apt-get install things easily.
So, install a base system, then just apt-get install samba task-x-window-system etc. It'll fulfill all of the dependencies automagically.
