SpeedTouch 330 definitely works with Linux - However, you do need to download a firmware file from the Thompson web site which worked for me straight out of the box (tarball ?)..
Googling around reveals there are drivers for the Sagem 800, most links appear to recommend going to www.eagle-usb.org for the latest - However, there does appear to be a far bit of work involved to get it to work..
All told, I would also recommend going the DG834 (or similar) route - The power consumption of many of these small modem/routers are a tenth of a desktop.
