Because the (probably) most vulnerable application on a desktop these days is the browser. You /really/ need to keep that patched and up to date.

The only problem I have using Firefox 3 is that sometimes, U-tube doesn't like it. I used the AV program on the Eee's Xandros for a few weeks, when it fell over, and I've never used an AV program (wit Linux) since.
