I don't have a CD-ROM drive, but I _do_ have a VAIO runinng Linux (though an old one, not a Crusoe-based one). I installed Linux by using the RedHat 7 netboot disk, then doing a network-based install direct from a web-site. You're welcome to come to Essex and do the same from here.
