I could possibly arrange for one of the TomTom units to be available at the next kit meet. *hint* The system is held on a removable sd card and I am sure the boot image is something silly that can be toyed with.
However the maps are activated via a challenge/response code that is (I think) seeded from the hardware itself, so good luck running the application on another device.
