Apologies if someone's already mentioned it (I'm not quite with it this morning) but you could try Chromium [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromium_(software)] I find it the nicest (and the most forgiving) of the lot to use. It's basically Chrome without all the usage tracking and suchlike.

I should have read the wiki i didn't think of looking there on this occasion. I've now installed chromium and compared with chrome it seems as said 'under bonnet changes' - chrome's usage tracker seems a whopping 30 mb (iirc). What it does say is that Chrome claims not to have the usage tracker installed on versions downloaded from its website from 2010. Only difference is that chrome does mp3 and AAC. I take to heart Micks views about google! - why the extra 30mb?
