I've done things like that, it's *very* easy to do. You get sort of tunnel vision saying to yourself "If I restart this it just *must* have an effect on that output I'm looking at".
It usually happens on "Friday afternoon" or the equivalent.
(But I expect that's my fault for naming all the servers after people's pet rabbits - oh, tantumbunky, fond memories...)
Our work systems are mostly named after mis-spelt minerals.
